The Tempest Miranda
1. ABOUT 'THE TEMPEST'.jpg

The Tempest

Bought in the 1860’s, the stretch from Sutherland to Cronulla was owned by wool merchant, financier and politician Thomas Holt. Taking inspiration from William Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’, James Murphy - one of the Holt estate managers - gave the area the name Miranda, after a character in the play.

This project pays homage to the theatric origins of the name of the suburb Miranda, naming the development after the play itself, ‘The Tempest’.
